Celebrate the end of Chinese New Year with the debut of the virtuoso 18-piece UK Chinese Ensemble, featuring ancient and contemporary Chinese music by UK-based professional musicians.
 
The UK Chinese Ensemble was established in 1998 and features members of the well-known Silk String Quartet and the Silk and Bamboo ensemble. Twenty different Chinese instruments will be featured, including the pipa, liuqin, zhognruan and daruan (lutes), guqin and guzheng (zithers), dizi and xiao (bamboo flutes), guanzi (reed pipe), xun (clay ocarina), sheng (mouth organ), huqin (fiddle), and percussion instruments. Some of these instruments are rarely heard in the UK and some are reconstructions of early instruments.
